Fill up your sink or a large bucket with 2 cups of water. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to this mix. Plugin your coffee grinder and turn it on for about 5 seconds.
Alternatively, put ½ cup of white vinegar in the container that holds your beans. Let it sit for 20 minutes before continuing with the brew.
If you have a glass container, use water and vinegar to clean it out by soaking it in hot soapy water for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off the outside with cool water and let it dry completely before using again.
If there are hard-to-remove grounds stuck to the surface, pour some salt over them and scrub with a toothbrush if needed.(Do not use steel wool!)
Remove the top of your grinder to expose the burrs. (Unplug before starting!!) Pour some rice or baking soda over each one and use a toothbrush to do a more intense cleaning on them.
Remove any debris with an air compressor or by blowing through your mouth on either side of the burr. Make sure they are dry before putting them back together.
If you have a removable grounding container, rinse it with water and then put some rice in there to dry out any excess coffee left over. This will maintain your grinder longer.
Use a damp cloth or paper towel to clean the outside of your grinder. A toothbrush with soap and water can help you if there are any hard-to-reach areas that may have coffee stuck in them.
Once all the parts of your grinder are dry, reassemble it. If you used vinegar, you’re going to have to prime the grinder before using it. Pour a handful of beans into your grinder and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Grind these for about 5 seconds then discard them away from food or drink.
